Rugby - Efficient loosehead prop

Expert: Joshua Barlow - 6/29/2009

Question
Hi, im a 20 year old loosehead prop playing club rugby. Im about 1.72m tall weighing 89kg. I have a problem scrumming sometimes because of taller tighthead props that are also bigger than me. What can i possibly work on to be efficient against any type of tighthead prop? What can i do to overcome da fear of tackling bigger guys than me? Any tips in tackling guys using handoff?

Answer
When proping get lower than your opponents, in every situation you can, situation is the only way you can get over the fear of tackling.

When someone is using an handoff tackle them round the legs so that they can not hand you off.

Always tackle round the legs.

No matter what

Thanks
