About Ivan Expertise Russian visa and transportation, places to stay and to go.
Experience I?m originally from St.Pete, but live now in Moscow. Mostly I could advice you about those two cities, but some tips about Caucasus, Russian North and Golden Ring you may find useful too, cause I have travel there a lot in last few years. Also feel free to ask me ?technical? Q?s about visa and registration and so on?
Question Hello Ivan,
Myself and four friends are planning a trip to Russia. We have never been there before and none of us speaks any Russian. We would be flying from the United Kingdom and would like to see Moscow and St. Petersburg with an overnight train in between. Our question is whether we should go with an organized tour (such as The Russia Experience based in the UK) or try to plan everything and go on our own. Are we likely to run into trouble with police, customs, scams, getting lost, museums being closed, etc.? Is it worth the extra money to have everything planned out? Is there much support for tourists (tourist information shops, English walking tours, etc.)?Thank you!
Andy
Answer Andy,
Depending from exact time your want to spend here and when you want to go plus ~ 30 percent difference in average cost of your journey – it makes some influence on should you choose an agency or organize all things by yourself…
If you guys are fine with independent traveling – find visa support provider and book apartments via this company. Information services are low presented, but you could hire a private guide via Internet and keep two as an alternative, right?
Forget about the police and customs and try to focus on logistics and sightseeing – most information available in English on websites.
