About Annie
Expertise
I can answer questions about study abroad in the "real" Russia. That is, some of the other major cities in Western Russia, i.e. Yaroslavl, Vladimir. I can give advice and answer questions about homestay experiences, as well as tourist experiences in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and major cities in the Baltic States. I can discuss how to interact with Russians in Russia with little or no language experience. I can dispell or confirm some rumours that tourists and students might have heard.

Experience
I was in Yaroslavl for a month (1994) with a family as a tourist/exchange student. Then I was in Rostov Velikiy (the origional Rostov!) for seven months (1996-97) studying Russian in public school for seven months. Just recently I spent a semester studying Russian as a special institute for foreign speakers of Russian in Vladimir. Also on a homestay. I've experienced Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Baltic States.

Organizations
Russian Oregon Social Services as a volunteer English tutor for Russian speaking immigrants.

Question
Annie, I will be going to yaroslavl in less than two weeks, I am
having trouble finding any place to stay, the only hotel I saw was
well over a hundred a night,
can you help me?

Answer
Danny,
I'm sorry I have taken so long to get back to you. I hope you have been able to find out the answer to your question in the meantime.
Unfortunately, I don't have experience with hotels in Yaroslavl. I lived with freinds while I was there.
My only suggestion would be to check out youth hostels or perhaps consult with a travel agent who specializes in Eastern Europe.
Good luck, and I'm sorry I couldn't help you!
Best
Annie
