About Katya Expertise I am Russian, I was a child when I emigrated, and felt like I had lost my roots for a while. So when the time came, I studied a bit about my own culture, and sort of reclaimed my heritage. I hope I know a fair bit about Russia, not only from being Russia and speaking Russian etc. but also through my own journey of finding out more about Russian culture.
Experience I am Russian and have studied a bit about Russian culture, as well as doing a intercultural communication course at university.
Organizations World Vision.
Education/Credentials One year left of my bachelor degree in international relations.
Question Hi, are Russian people considered "white" like British people are? Is the Russian language more difficult than those derived from Latin? Is there any opprotunity in Russia? And is most of the country isolated? Thank you!
Answer Hello Justin,
Hmmm with the first question that's pretty hard to answer...I'd say the typical Russian would be referred to as 'white', yeah. Although probably the skin colour would be a little darker the the typical Anglo-Saxon white I guess...though there are so many types of Russians that you can't just put everybody in the same category.
I don't know if the Russian language is more difficult than those derived from Latin, I think if you grow up speaking English then obviously Latin languages would be easier to learn than a non Latin language...They're both really hard to answer questions!
And what do you mean, is there any opportunity in Russia? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that...?
A lot of the country is kind of isolated I would say, yes, especially Siberia, especially the eastern parts; basically because of the climate and being hard to grow things there and sustain large populations, not many people tend to live there.
Hope that helped! Katya
