Question
what are the foods typically eaten in russia for festivals, or weddings and
celebrations?

Answer
Well...there are a wide range of traditional Russian foods.
I know that often there will be pirozhki (sort of like Russian pies), syrniki (also sort of like pies), vareniki. There will also be pel'meni (sort of like Russian pasta with meat inside it), and usually there is a soup, such a uha (out of fish) or borsh (out of beetroot, meat and a few other ingredients). Rye bread is eaten with most foods.
I know the only staple at a wedding would be vodka! Lol.
However, at Easter (Pas'ha), there are traditional foods eaten such as kulich (a special bread) and Pas'ha (a cheesy sort of spread that is absolutely scrumptious). Also, eggs are usually cooked and painted red, and then an egg cracking competition is played, after which people eat the eggs.

Expertise

I am Russian, I was a child when I emigrated, and felt like I had lost my roots for a while. So when the time came, I studied a bit about my own culture, and sort of reclaimed my heritage. I hope I know a fair bit about Russia, not only from being Russia and speaking Russian etc. but also through my own journey of finding out more about Russian culture.

Experience

I am Russian and have studied a bit about Russian culture, as well as doing a intercultural communication course at university.
