Question
Do you know the English equivalent for the Russian "пай-мальчик"? Thank you.

Answer
Hi,

I can't find a good equivalent right now, maybe I haven't heard one. I can explain the meaining, though:

Words "пай-мальчик" or "паенька" both mean an obedient person, usually a boy (мальчик), although, "пай-мальчик" can be used sarcastically referring to an adult man who never breaks any rules or law, is very quiet in behaviour; sometimes, it may mean that this person only LOOKS that way.

The word "паенька" can refer to both sexes, the gender will change accordingly.

Oksana,

I realised that you are Russian, already know the meaning and you are just looking for a translation. Sorry, if I wasn't very helpful. If I find the answer, I will let you know.

Regards,
Anatoli
