Expert: Gary Goldberg - 4/12/2009

Question
Do you know the English equivalent of this Russia proverb:
кому война, а кому мать родна

Thanks

Answer
Кому́ война́, а кому́ мать родна́.
Transliteration: Komu voyna, a komu mat' rodna.
Translation: For some people war is war, for others - [their] dear mother.
Moral: Some people suffer from war; some people make a fortune off of it.
