Russian Language - spelling of surname sounds like shore-i-a-cough

Expert: Liliya - 4/7/2009

Question
i'm trying to locate an old friend of mine who happens to be a contractor and don't remember how he spelled last name

Answer
Hi Molly,

It's hard to say what exactly the last name you are talking about is, but the closest one I can think of is Шуряков(Shuriakov/ Shuryakov). It might even be Щуряков (Shchuriakov/ Shchuryakov). There are also such last names as Шеряков (Sheryakov)and Шуриков (Shurikov) in Russian. In the first three the last syllable is stressed - the vowel "o", while in Shurikov, it's the first syllable that gets accentuated - the sound "u."

Hopefully you'll find this helpful. The best of luck to you.

Regards,

Liliya.
