Question
Hi Anatoli,

I'm hoping you might be able to translate something in Russian I have just heard in a movie.  The movie is "Terminal Velocity", starring Charlie Sheen and Nastassia Kinsky.

There was no subtitled translation for this particular phrase, so I'll do the best I can with a phonetic transliteration...

The line was: "Shast shast!  Bobistray!"

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Have a great day!!  =)

James

Answer
Hi,

In Russian:

Сейчас, сейчас! (seychahs) Pronounced in standard Russian as [сечас] (sechahs) - "й" is dropped but merged to щас (shshahs) colloquially and in a fast speech.

1. Literally: now, now but means: I am (already) going/coming, wait a second, etc.

2. Побыстрей! - Faster!

Regards,
Anatoli
