Russian Language - Mayakovsky

Expert: Gary Goldberg - 9/27/2009

Question
Do you know what these two words mean? резинотрест & соввласть I think соввласть might be a contraction of советский + власть, but I'm not sure. They're both from (different) Mayakovsky posters. The context is: Лучших сосок не было и нет / готов сосать до старых лет / продаются везде / резинотрест коммунизм это соввласть + электрофикация thanks/спасибо :)

Answer
Yes, I'm sure that you're right about соввласть being a contraction.

As for the second, I'll translate it as "[the] rubber trust". The context
is a play on words on Lenin's famous slogan,
"Социализм есть советская власть плюс электрификация всей страны!"

"Socialism is Soveit power plus the electrification of the entire country"
(note, too, the spelling электрификация).
