Hi. I have a big problem. I am a resident of the United States and I signed up for a work from home job for a company that was based in Russia. Well, it turns out this company was scamming people out of money. I really need to find out how to track this company down because I am now being charged with fraud in my home state for something that this company in Russia did. The company address that I was given was: Russia, Semenovskaja 539, 43. Can you please help?
Answer -
Dear Danielle,

As you can guess this is not a real address at all, so this information does not help.

In such a situation you may just contact your local police that will contact the Russian authorities to begin an investigation.

Such a process should not be a quick and pleasant procedure, but this is the only way you can follow, because your personal investigation will be quite ineffective to high extent of probability.

Good luck,
Oleg.

Answer
Dear Danielle,

1. I do believe that your local police will connect with its Russian colleagues. You may also try to contact US headquarters of Interpol
http://www.usdoj.gov/usncb/.  However, I believe that is is better to begin from the level of the local police, then they will contact  appropriate authorities in US, Russia and Latvia.

2. I  have no access to Latvian addresses, but such fake companies do not usually use real address or use them in a misleading way.

Kind regards,
Oleg.
