Saab Repair - 2000 SAAB 9-3 sedan leaky drivers door

Expert: Jim Geyer - 9/28/2009

Question
QUESTION: Maybe this old car has been in a wreck but I like the car. It leaks on drivers side when rainingand smells moldy. I'm sure this is not just a saab problem. What is the best fix?

ANSWER: find out where the leak is coming from

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: The leak is coming from the drivers door on the front part of it. I expect it is time to replace the weather seal but there may be more to it than that. I didn't know if SAABs were peculiar about this in the past models. I have not seen any rust, plus it is a inland georgia car its whole life and have not noticed any rust damage

Answer
I would remove the driver side visor and it's mount as well as the a-oillar trim. on the front of the sunroof assy is a hose, sometimes these break, then it will leak at the front area by the door.If not You need to find out where it is coming in. Sit in the car while someone sprays water on the outside.
