Subject: saab 9000 radio cuts out

Question
There is a solenoid switch just below the ignition key on the steering column.  This switch starts clicking while I am driving down the road.  That makes the radio cut in/out.  Sometimes the radio does not work at all for lengthy periods of time until the solenoid starts to click.  

Eventually, the clicking always stops.

At the end of this solenoid/actuator is a plunger style rod that going in and out of the solenoid.  This plunger hits a mechanism that pushes up onto a switch.  This seems to be the cause of the problem.

Is the switch bad and what is it?  part number on the side of the solenoid is 41 14 209.  
It does not appear to be a standard replaceable part as there are no screws or other means to remove this unit.  There is a pin holding this item in place.

What is this solenoid/actuator?  Is it faulty?

Answer
Never heard of this! This may necessitate a trip to the dealer, I have no such animal on my older 9000. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Here are some weblinks which may be useful for future reference:
