Question QUESTION: I'm transferring to CSU Sacramento next Fall and I was wondering were the best place to live is? I want to be out of the ghetto but I would also like to be close to campus (within 10-15min. driving)... where should I look for housing?
ANSWER: You're in luck because there are lots of great housing options close to CSUS that are in nice neighborhoods. If you're looking for an apartment complex, you will want to search in Fair Oaks or something near Arden Fair Mall. If you are interested in a house, duplex or something more quaint- I'd suggest looking in the midtown area. Midtown will be about 10 minutes drive depending on traffic but it's really close to all the night life, dining and entertainment.
QUESTION: im not seeing midtown on the map of Sacramento. where exactly is it?
Answer It probably won't be labeled on a map but generally is considered anything between 16th and 30th and C Street to P Street. There is also a really nice area around R Street and 20th.
In case you're not familiar- the downtown/midtown area is on a grid. Letter streets starting at the north of town with A and down to X then, Broadway. The letter streets run east and west. Numbered streets start at 2nd (1st street is the river) and go to 30th for downtown (anything after 30th is East Sacramento). When you find numbered avenues- they are not in downtown and most of them are in neighborhoods I would not want to live in!
