Hi Andy! My husband inherited this safe which has been in his family since his grandfather's time. We think it must have been bought around early 1920's or even earlier. I need your help to assess the make, year of manufacture and a rough estimate of its value. We live in Chennai ( earlier known as Madras), India. This safe was definitely bought here. It weighs a lot....my guess would be over 350kgs. The movers really struggled with it. Other details: Measurements ( excluding teak wood stand)
Height- 32"
Width- 21"
Depth- 20"
There are no markings on the body of the safe. There is a Lion and garter (?) emblem on the front with a famous inscription - " Honi so it qui mal y Pense". The keyhole cover says "Lion", there are other initials like TSC and EATO (?).
Hope you have some good news for me. Keeping my fingers crossed! Attaching pictures
