Question Our first Saint was 4 months old yesterday and we have a couple of questions.
First - every morning she seems to go crazy. She runs around inside the house and outside in the back yard like wild. I hope that this is just "puppy-crazies". Am I correct and when will she settle down?
Second - She can't seem to sleep through the night, often waking us up after a couple hours and wants to play. I sleep near the sliding glass door so that I can let her in and out when she wants. But, as I said, after a couple hours she's ready to play and runs to my wife's bedroom, barks and demands that she get up and play with her.
I certainly don't mean to say that she is a bad dog - actually for most of the time she is great, very loving and friendly. She's now in intermediate training and is the class favorite. We are both planning on retiring in about 16 months and hope that "Molly", our saint, will be allowed to visit hospitals to make the patients a little happier.
Thanks you for your advise!

Answer Hello and thanks for you question. Well first off congrats on getting a great addition to your family and life long friend. Now to your first question... There are some saints that are more hyper then other and some that are more laid back and timid. I myself have one now that is 2 1/2 and is wired all the time. He was like that when he was little and he is like that now. In previous experience I have come to the conclusion that if the are calm when they are little then that is just the image of them when they are older. Yes in the morning they will be excited and crazy and if this is the only time Molly is doing this you don't really have anything to worry about as long as she calms down. Be sure if you don't want her doing what she is doing in the morning you discipline her while she is young and smaller. Because when she is 150 pounds and you want her to stop it wont be so easy. hahaha (voice of experience). Hope that helps!
Next...with all my saint when they were inside I never put them in a crate or kennel. It seemed that they would always just sleep through the night and they wouldn't potty I was impressed. Now if you aren't putting them in a crate and you are still having these troubles then I would have to ask you how much exercise is she getting every day. You want to play here little heart out till she cant play any more. That way she will sleep longer and if she does wake up it will be for a short time. If i noticed my pup wandering in the night or just tossing around then I would call them back over to me and scratch there ear....(they love that) until they were back out. Also try to limit her naps during the day. If at all possible... If your home or around her to keep her content. Well I certainly hope this helps!! I'm here if you need anything at all and good luck. Please mail me back and let me know if this helps and if you need anything else.
