About T.J
Expertise
I can answer virtually any question on saltwater fish. I have had saltwater aquariums for 8 years, ranging from large reefs to nano reefs. I can answer technical questions on lights, skimmers, heaters, etc. I am knowledgeable on species compatibility, diseases, tank setup, and more. I am EXTREMELY beginner friendly, if you are just starting a tank i will take the time to help you with everything. The only thing I am not too familiar with is breeding saltwater fish, I have had limited experience with breeding, so no breeding questions please. Also, to answer questions, I need to know your the size of your tank, Lbs of LR, Lbs of live sand, and skimmer/filter/refugium/sump/lighting if applicable. else, it takes me longer to help you

Experience
I have kept various reefs, from nano reefs to large reefs. I have had saltwater for 8 years, and am familiar with all equipment and species.

Question
QUESTION: hi my name is marcus and i just about a week ago got a clown fish and my two damsels are picking on him i thought if i got him a sea anemone he might be ok but i havnt gotten one yet and when i do what type do you think would be good for a percula clown.

ANSWER: Hey Marcus

for a anemone recommendation, i need to know how big is your tank, how much lighting you have, and how old is it. Anemones generally need high lighting, a 55g+ tank, and a tank over a year old

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: I have a 30gal tank and ive had it for about 8months and i have fairly strong lighting and what do you think i should do to stop the damsels from pikcing on him. Also is it normal for clownfish to hang out at the top of the tank because mine is and hes acting like he wants to cme down but he doesnt, what should i do.

Answer
Hey Marcus

i would try a green bubble tip anemone, they are generally one of the more forgiving anemones. as for the aggression, damsels are that way, they will stake out territories and fight for them. you could try rescaping your rockwork to mix up the territories, or get rid of the damsels or the clown. If you get rid of/move the damsels, i have a feeling the clown will perk up more
