Question
Do you think the 49ers will turn things around? I know this season seems like its going nowhere but are we in for many years like this one with the penny pinching John York owning the team? I realize they have cap problems but I wish he would sell the team to someone who cares about being competitive.

Answer
From what I understand we were about 30 million over the cap after 2003 season a lot of it being dead money, which means we are still paying the remander of players contracts who are no longer with the team. After the 2004 we should have about 15 million in dead money and going into 2006 it should all be cleared up.

I think for the most part we have a very solid team, but injuries have completely destroyed any chance of us having a good season this year. I was actually looking for the 49ers to be a playoff contender coming into the season and even at being 1-6 right now we are not that far away. We lost to the falcons by 2, Saints by 3, Jets game we had the lead for 3/4 of the game, and the Bears game we pissed away at the end. If it wasn't for a few mistakes and if we were a little healthier we could easily be 5-2 right now.

I am optomistic for the upcoming years for the 49ers we are the youngest team in the league and are a couple Offensive and defensive linemen away from being a complete team.

As for York I'm not a big fan of his but you have to understand that the team has so much dead money against them that we are no able to be active in the free agent market on top of that we are playing in one of the older stadiums in the NFL and the city of San Francisco has been jerking us around for about 6 years on a new stadium deal. So right now the money just isn't there.

I hope this helps some, sorry for going off on a rant.

Scott
