Question
With the losses of Ellis Burks and Bill Mueller, it would appear that the Giants are a significantly diminished team.  Can they win with this roster?  Will they go with this roster or is Sabean looking to make a major move?

Answer
The beauty of baseball is that anything can happen, and there is always the possibility of winning without those two.  But, I think the team is significantly weaker without them.  Losing Burks they lose a great bat,and equally as important his leadership.  The reason for not signing him was his want for a two year contract, and the organization felt his health, knees, were too sketchy.  So they counter that by signing Shawon Dunston, another old guy who can't play short like he used to, and can't play right like Burks, and they get Eric Davis, who has had injuries and health issues as well.
The loss of Bill Mueller obviously diminishes their defense.  Offensively, Russ Davis is a more stereotypical corner man, because he's got some pop, but his defense will more than likely not be close to Mueller.
As far as the front office looking to make a major move, I can just hope.  The problem is they don't have alot to work with...  2 centerfielders gives them the option to trade one away, you can't get much for Marvin Bernard, too much money for a bad defensive centerfielder that is not much of a threat on offense...  and Calvin Murray, who has a more promising future (even though he's gonna be thirty) and it would be a shame to give him up and keep Bernanrd.
