Question
HI

Is there difference on how to fix faults in satellite links when it comes to voice and IP trunking?

Is there step by step process an engineer can follow to troubleshoot problem instead of just changing power and rebooting equipment?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Mr Abdiasis,
For fixing problems in any Operational system identification of fault is primary and it is NOT as simple as that there are procedures. What is the type of symptom that appeared before the fault is seen makes it easy for fixing that. And for any Computerised System the fastest solution offered by software licence is ALT+CTR+DEL but it is effectively reboot process and hardware procedures do have certain preventive and maintenance manuals  from the suppliers. There are NO theoretical procedures for any and all faults fixing.
On the application side you mentioned, Voice and IP Trunking, these are two basic technologies that come under CIRCUIT SWITCHING AND PACKET SWITCHING AND OR combination of these two.
Obviusly procedures for fault fixing ARE different.
Cheers/GTRao
