Question
I have a King sax that I inherited.  The number on it is 76525. On the front is says "The White" Clevd-o.  Any idea how old it is and what it is worth?

Answer
Hi Linda,

Here is a great page of information on King Saxes - you will know immediately why it's named 'The White' after the company's founder:

http://www.saxgourmet.com/king__saxophones.htm

This page does not specifically mention 'The White' by name (I only read it quickly) but I'm confident your horn probably dates to between 1924 and 1926. Check to see if you have a patent number like '1549911' on the horn somewhere, if so you know it's close.

These years were notorious for having a great amount of embellished etchings.  If yours is in good shape with lots of engraving you could be looking at a decent collectible there.  Some horns like this have sold for $300 to $500 in good shape on e-bay.  Horns in bad or so-so shape go for lots less and those that have been restored to 'like' new can fetch $1,000 or more.
