Saxophone - Tenor Sax Blessing

Expert: Eugene Cantera - 11/3/2009

Question
I have a Blessing Tenor Sax. Brass Lacquard with Silver Keys.

Could you advise who made the "Blessing" and any indication when they were made or current value. Its in good condition & it has been completly re sprung & padded. Plays very well.

Many thanks  John Lowe. Semi Pro player. Jazz & Classical

Answer
These are beginner horns once made in the UK and now made in China.  They are not particularly valuable on the re-sale market as the workmanship is just not as solid as almost any other horn including Jupiter. All the re-padding and springing available cannot help the fact that the original materials on the bulk of the horn are just not up to the quality that they should be. There is a brand new tenor with an asking price of about $1,900 on ebay at the moment and I doubt it will make that mark.  These horns do not re-sell well at all.  If it's in great shape you might do best to sell it locally to a budding new sax student.  If you get $500 you'll be doing well.
