Question We had to interview someone by asking a lot of questions. I have the answers to the questions but am not sure how to go about writing the interview in APA format. Can you help me? Thank you.
Answer APA generally uses double spacing with single spaces between sentences. The following is quoted from p. 292 of the APA manual, 5th edition:
Display quotations of 40 or more words in a double-spaced block of typewritten lines with no quotation marks. Do not single space. Indent five to seven spaces or 1/2 in. from the left margin without the usual opening paragraph indent. If the quotation is more than one paragraph, indent the first line of second and additional paragraphs five to seven spaces or 1/2 in. from the new margin.
Also, do not include interviews in your references, as they are considered as less reliable sources of information. Cite in text only. (I can help with that if needed.)
An example is below:
Interviewer:
Whatever the individual happened to say here...continued on and on
double spaced.
Interviewee:
Question asked would go here.
If you are putting the entire interview into format, you can simply state the reference information at the end of the interview data.
