I am writing my Masters thesis using the APA style and have
two questions:
1. In my table of contents,should I show numbers only for
Chapter headings and not for subheadings?
eg: 4.<heading>
<subheading> as opposed to
4.<heading>
4.1<subheading>
2. Same question in main body,should i never number
subheadings?

Answer Hi Sajjan,
I'd have to consult my APA manual to answer your question and I don't have access to it at the moment. Perhaps your school library has one you can check. If not, I'd not be overly worried about how you do this (I sincerely doubt APA even specifies this, as they are more concerned with writing for publication in journals and less specific about formatting academic documents).
