School papers, Essays, Dissertations - APA Format

Expert: Dan Smith - 6/3/2009

Question
My professor says that every assignment must be written in APA Format. The first class assignment is to answer two questions. One question is what do you expect to gain from the class. How do you answer questions of this sort in APA Format? Do I type the question first then answer? The only thing I'm certain of is that the assignment should be double spaced. PLEASE HELP!

Answer
Usually, when instructors make such a specification they are referring to the citation and bibliographic conventions and perhaps also margins. Get the current APA manual. You can find APA-compliant templates by searching the Internet. They are useful. Be sure it's compliant with the current edition of the APA manual. The APA format is conventions for submitting manuscripts to an APA-compliant journal for publication. This is not that kind of manuscript, and this kind of question does not require research or citations so you don't have to worry about that here. 1-inch margins, double spacing should be fine. If you want to type the question and then answer it, that should be fine as well. APA does not have a set of specific definitions for this sort of question and answer.

Hope this helps.

And relax.
