Question
I'm looking for a book I read about 23 years ago. The contents of the book involved Astronauts who contracted a virus in space and landed in the desert. The virus was contracted be them scratching themselves. Two females in the book managed to get out and went to a bikie commune and spread the virus through there. It ended with one survivor jumping in a truck and heading towards a city.
To my memory this is correct however it may be a little different as it was such a long time since I read it. I would love to know the author and title so that I can track the book down. Thank you

Answer
There are thousands of similar stories about a plague spreading from astronauts.  I don't remember this one specifically.  My favorite such story is The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton.  Sorry I dont' remember the one you asked about.  Try googling some of the key words.
