Science Fiction Books - late 1960s sci-fi, young adult

Expert: Sue Kayton - 3/13/2008

Question
Trying to find a book I read as a child...the plot involved a strange visitor on an island...a person(child?)rows out to this nearby island frequently...on one visit, they encounter a strange "visitor" who will be there for a certain amount of time...whoever wants to leave with the visitor can do so...but there is a storm....this is sketchy, I know, but it was a story I couldn't put down...
have wondered about it for years! It was from the local public library in the young adult books, if I remember right, and would have been in the late 60s early 70s...

Answer
Sorry - I've read most of the adult SF, but hardly any of the juveniles.  It might have been a magazine, too.  Sorry I can't help you.  Try googling some of the words.  If you're really desperate, email mitsfs@mit.edu, the largest SF library in the world, located at MIT, and see if one of the students there recognizes it.
