Question I seem to recall a short story involving a fellow who, while walking in his living room or front hall trips over the edge of the carpet, and in the fall, precipitates into another (realm/dimension/universe/world?). In it he sees a very strange creature that seems to take offense at his appearance and aims two (crystalline?) rods at him, which seems to cause pain(?). after a short time, he somehow returns to the time and place he left from, still falling. I have a vague recollection that the title was something like "between the ticks of the clock" or "between 12 and 12:01" or something along those lines. IIRC, this was a 1930's or 40's short story. Thanks so much for looking!
Answer Never read it. Sorry. Here's a link to golden-age short stories so you can browse by title. I didn't find anything that started with "Between" that sounded right.
