Question I am searching for an Asimov short story probably dated before 1976. It is
about; knowledge down loaded into people, so each person already knows
and everyone is very mechanical. There is one individual who is different and
says he wants to learn by reading and he gets institutionalized because he
thinks differently. after this happening his councilor finally takes him and
tells him he is a creator....
Answer One of my favorites. The short story is titled "Profession" and is indeed by Asimov. It appears in several anthologies, but the easiest to find is Nine Tomorrows, Garden City, NY: Doubleday 1959. The other stories in the collection are well worth reading also. Enjoy!
