Question Hi
I read a book, many times, back in primary school around '79 - '81. It was structured like a reference book but the topic was alien lifeforms. Each double page gave the alien's species name, home planet, descriptions of habitat, life-cycles etc.
The art was great, the only book I have left from that period is Great Space Battles (by Stewart Cowley and Charles Herridge, 1979) - again, excellent art that takes me back to when I would spend hours tucked away with these two books.
I am not at all certain about the title, and may be leading you astray here, but I think it contained the word Lifeforms and I think I remember the title font on the cover being yellow and having 2 distinct strokes for every word ... but that could be from any number of books or movies and just be stuck in my head.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
cheers
jason
Answer Jason,
I remember those books and I have quite a few of them in my collection. I don't think I have any about alien lifeforms or species, though. Another book, along the same lines, is
Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials by Wayne Douglas Barlowe, Beth Meacham, and Ian Summers (Hardcover - Oct 1987)
The books I have are reprints by US publishers, I imagaine that the books you remember were published by the original English publishers.
