Question Ok
for some years now i have been trying to find titles to these two books, hope you can help, have tried the galaxy bookshop a few times but all i get is shrugged shoulders.
1.... think this is probably a famous story, basically a group of human explorers stumbles across an alien city, after some sort of dispute one of the humans takes refuge in the city and the others try to find him, the city has automatic defenses, which make it hard for the others to clear buildings and safely enter.
Heard parts of this as a talking book on radio at least twenty years ago, never knew the title would like to buy the book.
2.... read part of this book (incomplete leftover novel with many pages missing)in the early O.A.S. never knew the title.
Plot basically revolves around a galaxy travelling gambler who has found hidden dimensional doorways on some alien planet, together with a pair of telepathically controlled dice, which allow him to make a living while he flits between worlds using the dimensional doors.
Remember i liked it but would have preferred to finish it.
Hope you can help
Pete
Answer sorry - never read either of these. The best book I know with telepathically controlled dice is To Ride Pegasus by Anne McCaffrey, about a bunch of misfits with psi powers that get organized. Good luck finding your books. Very few sci-fi stories get made into books on tape, so you should be able to find it by googling.
