Question From 20, 30 years ago? A small group of people figure out how to survive for years in a sunken vessel. I remember they used a bicycle for generating electricity. Seems like "below" or "under" was in the title, but I can't find by searching those terms.
Whether or not you know, thanks for offering your time as an expert!
Answer you're probably thinking of a famous short story - Surface Tension by James Blish. It was later expanded by adding more chapters. It was collected in a bunch of anthologies. The first on the list is easiest to find, and has many wonderful stories.
