Question
what is the process in which plants use oxygen and food to get the energy they need?

Answer
This is a poorly-worded question.  Plants get their energy from the sun, they get their oxygen (in the form of carbon dioxide) from the air, and they get minerals and other nutrients from the soil.  This process is called "being alive".

The process by which they turn sunshine into energy is photosynthesis.  The process by which they breathe in gas is called respiration, and I forget the name for getting nutrients from the soil through the roots.

Hope this answers your question.
