Subject: solar energy

Question
How is useable energy obtained from solar energy? Please be very detailed.

Answer
This sounds like a homework question.  I suggest you read the wikipedia articles on solar energy at www.wikipedia.com

Generally, solar energy is used in one of these ways
1)  convert directly to electricity using solar cells (also called photovoltaic cells)
2)  heat water into steam, and then use the steam to turn a turbine to generate electricity
3)  Use the solar energy to heat water or heat a massive stone fireplace or other material that stores heat
4)  Heat the water and use it to take showers with, so no conversion is necessary
5)  Use the solar energy to dry fruit, dry clothes, or other direct use with no conversion
