Science for Kids - encourage children to express their likes and dislikes

Expert: Sue Kayton - 10/20/2009

Question
Hi Sue,
Please, why it is important to encourage children to express their likes and dislikes? and why is it important to respond and discuss differences with children?

Thank you for your help Sue, I will appreciate that

Regard Emma

Answer
Everyone will give you a different answer for this one.  I believe that kids should be encouraged to think, analyze , and no be afraid to speak up.  Discussing differences is a great way to accomplish this.  Dogmatic belief in a religion has the opposite effect, fostering blind obedience, squelching questions, and teaching kids that different = bad.
