How do scientists determine the composition of the Earth's interior?

Answer
Great question. You may want to ask in the geology area on this site, yet in simple they use waves. I think and I am rusty with this, yet they use an S wave. The idea goes with earthquakes. An earthquake feels different depending on what type of material. Good luck and ask in the geology area.
