Question How long would it take for volcanos to stop erupting and how does the lava come out?
Answer Aravind,
Some erupt only once and others are in a constant state of eruption. It is highly dependant on what is happening under the volcano. A volcano can erupt and then not erupt for hundreds or even thousands of years and then all of a sudden it becomes active once again.
As for lava, once the molten rock or magma comes to the surface, it will ooze out of the crater or through a vent on the side of the volcano and flow down the slope. This can be very fast and runny like water or thick and goooie like hot fudge or hot caramel. Either way it cools very slowly and depending on the type of lava, it will harden into different formations.
