Question
Do taste buds change over time while you get older/  if so what age?

          alie

Answer
Good question.  As people get older, their sense of taste changes.  It is impossible to tell if this is due to the change in the taste buds or a change in the brain that processes the taste information.  Most scientists believe it is a combination of both.

Very young babies are very sensitive to tastes, and as people get older they tend to prefer more strongly-flavored food.  This may be due to "burnout" or overuse of the tastebuds.  People who eat a lot of very spicy food or who smoke tend to lose the ability to taste subtle flavors.  People who habitually eat a lot of garlic no longer notice slight flavoring of garlic, etc.

This starts at a very young age.  Few toddlers like strongly-flavored foods like Brussels sprouts or coffee, for instance.

Hope this answers your question.
