About Laurie Hamilton
Expertise
I am able to answer questions regarding Scientology practices and procedures, belief system, donations, religious rites, management, administrative and staff matters.

Experience
I am a second generation Scientologist whose parents began in Dianetics in 1950 and studied directly with L. Ron Hubbard. I have been personally active in the church for 40 years, have eleven years former staff experience in both technical and administrative areas, and extensive technical and administative training and counseling. I am "clear" and "OT." I come from an extended family of many religions, but my spouse and children are Scientologists, as are my siblings and their spouses, several cousins, nieces, nephews, an aunt, and an uncle. Between us we have had every good and bad experience one might go through in the church at every level.

Scientology - thetans in MEST

Expert: Laurie Hamilton - 10/17/2009

Question
Hi Laurie.

If a thetan has no physical location, then a thetan's existence in the MEST universe must be a tragedy indeed. Apart from the sense of "dislocation", a thetan would be subject to countless distractions that only mask his true identity.

But if a thetan were to break free from reincarnation, in what capacity would that thetan continue to exist? In what kind of place would a thetan be? Also, how would a thetan communicate if not with the aid of sound, vision and other MEST universe components?

Answer
"If a thetan has no physical location, then a thetan's existence in the MEST universe must be a tragedy indeed."

Yes.

"Apart from the sense of "dislocation", a thetan would be subject to countless distractions that only mask his true identity."

Exactly so.  Some folks don't even twig on that fact, subjectively, until they go OT.

"But if a thetan were to break free from reincarnation, in what capacity would that thetan continue to exist?"

The physical universe has brainwashed you into believing that existence requires context, or a particular context.  Not so.  Besides, free of entrapment here, who knows what other contexts might be available?

"Also, how would a thetan communicate if not with the aid of sound, vision and other MEST universe components?"

The same way they do now - by getting the idea of another thetan getting their idea...
