Scientology - Auditing

Question
QUESTION: Jay: You are the second person on this site that I have contacted.  The first time didn't prove to be very successful.   I want more auditing, and heard LRH talk about hanging up your shingle when your training was done, so for this reason I started searching the Internet.   In the process of this, I ran across the term “Freezone,” and then I started having some results.  I guess the Church doesn’t like it when someone does auditing outside their building, but to my ears, Ron clearly said that was okay to do.  So what gives here?  Do you know of any auditors in or close to Santa Clarita, California?  Is there a site that lists auditors that are not as expensive as a Sea Org. member?  Thanks, Larry

ANSWER: Larry. Thank you for your questions. Yes, I know of that practice of preventing auditing from occurring in the field or running too much control on auditors in the field. It does not work and trying to be a monopoly in the subject is a very dangerous thing for us all. LRH stated in PDC Lecture #20 that trying to have a monopoly in the subject is dangerous for man as organizations like this can become corrupt. He later wrote in his LRH ED 54 INT not to force the standards of the org on the field, in so many words. I can get the exact quote but I am sure you get the idea. We will not salvage the beings on this planet if auditing is not occurring in the field. Now, it is best to follow exactly the technology and not divert from it and get yourself well trained, that way you can not be "hoodwinked" OR RIPPED off by any auditor in the field or in an org. I got the training and from that point on no one was ever been able to mess up my life. I had bad auditing a long time ago so I made it my point to know the tech COLD. I have been free ever since. Now I have seen some of the people who claim to have gotten auditing in the so-called "freezone". Most of what I saw was non-standard tech and off-beat practices. I met with several of the "top" people in the FZ and quite frankly they were way off. I will give you a hint of one of the things I look for as a C/S and Auditor. I read the "success stories" of the pcs that have been audited by these FZ people. Most of them praise their auditors for doing such a great job. The tone level is one of propitiation and lacks substance. When I audit, most of the time the pc never mentions me in their success story. Why? Because they are not there for me they are there on a journey of self. When they have been able to handle a major ruin in their life they have gotten what they came here for. That shows that they have recovered their self-determinism. You see? I have also seen a few of the pc in the FZ who were given major actions over top of un-flat Grades and who never did a Drug Rundown and who were indeed PTS. THE AUDITORS JUST TOOK THEIR MONEY AND LET THEM QUITE FALSELY ATTEST TO THEIR ACTION AS BEING DONE ONLY TO LATER FALL FLAT ON THEIR FACES. This is what is called "OUT-TECH" MEANING THE RIGHT TECH WAS LEFT OUT! LRH SAID IN A POLICY "An executive who would permit out-tech in an org, would feed arsenic to his dying grandmother just for laughs." So I do not flow those guys power. What gives there, is the current church does not have to follow the exact works of LRH. Their own corporate papers say that "The scientology "Religion" is BASED on the works of L. Ron Hubbard." You see that?, BASED ON THE WORKS! That means that they are not the exact un-altered works but merely based on them. Legally speaking they can follow them exactly or they do not have to, legally speaking. Pretty slick move. But it goes with the territory.I do not personally know of any auditors out that way. We are in Florida and do audit. Where are you at on the bridge?  The only site I know of are the FZ sites and I would not recommend them as I have checked them out.Sincerely, Jay

QUESTION: Jay:  I did a few intro classes, lots of time in the library and the purif.  You stated things that I see from the little understanding that I have.  You have helped me see that I’m still on the right track, and I will look carefully for an auditor who I’m in com. with.  Another thing that bothers me is this "new stuff" that has been introduced.  They want you to throw away your old books and lectures, and buy new stuff.  Why don’t they just let you buy page inserts, etc., rather than have to purchase a whole new book?  I think I know why, but presently it is a point of contention for me.  Too bad you’re not in California.  What I don’t understand is, where are all these auditors that have been cranked out in the various Orgs, like CC?  In my time there I saw many people going through auditing classes.  I even received some student auditing, but it was a bugger when they would get up in the middle of the auditing to go and ask a question of their teacher, leaving you hanging.  Thanks a million; you have been a great help.  I can see there is definitely a huge difference between experts.  I felt the first guy I ask the question of was rather a lame duck, but thankfully you were there to sort things out.  I would classify you as a knowledgeable expert, the kind that can give you an answer to your question, and the WHY.  Again, many thanks, Larry

ANSWER: Hi Larry. I am glad you can recognize the truth. Yes, it is very wise to really check a person out. The fundamentals like his comm cycle are a vital point. You should also get the Scientology Handbook,(if you don't have it you can get it in a library) which used to be called "The Volunteer Ministers Handbook" (which is what LRH called it in 1976.) There is a drill called the two minute psychometry. It will show you how to spot where a person is on the Tone Scale in two minutes or less! It is a great piece of tech and saves you lots of time in dealing with anyone and cuts right through the "bull" some people spew out. Don't deal with anyone who is 2.0 or lower on the scale as that is the descending point where you will have nothing but trouble with that kind of person. Now as an auditor the book "Science of Survival" gives you the tech on how to audit these people, along with Book One and all of the other auditing tech. But to allow them to audit you or do any kind of long term business or relationship invites trouble. People above 2.0 are mostly a joy to work with and there are lots of uptoned people to deal with. The 1.1 "covert hostility" type of person can really "ACT" like they are higher on the Tone Scale but that is the act, they are very good at. But if you notice even while acting happy and social they are always trying to introvert you in some fashion. That is the one tone level a person really needs to know well. In fact it is the deadliest tone level. Yes, they really could just give you the page inserts but that is not their agenda. They are selling their versions. Some of the books have not been altered but others have. They claim to have corrected "mistakes" but have not given the originals to compare them with. They have left out an awful lot of things much too much to delineate here. YES, where are they? The "SUPER POWER building in Clearwater is still not finished. They broke ground on it in 1998!!!! The Super Power they say they are going to deliver is NOT the original Super Power! I know as I have the original rundowns. LRH wrote them up in 1978!! It has yet to to see the light of day.I understand about that student auditing. When that student was auditing you he or she was AUDITING you. To get up in he session and walk off for what ever reason is a violation of the Auditors Code. That "auditor" had no business auditing anyone at that time because their TRs were obviously out. TRs are the most important fundamentals an auditor must have in before he audits anyone. What the hell kind of course room was that? "Student auditing"? That is what they call it? That is certainly odd. When a student, be a student. Not an auditor or pc. When an Auditor be an auditor not a student or pc. When a pc be a pc not a student or auditor. That is one of the most fundamental truths that have been around since the beginning. WOW! Thank you for the compliment. I am a real Scientologist. I don't know everything but what I do know, I know well. We have very good 'Extension Courses" you can do. After doing them you can start your own group and send me the data on your sessions and I can guide you through with your pcs and students. After a while you will have a real group of scientologists and that will be a good day for all of us! Sincerely

QUESTION: Jay:
To be honest I really never quite understood the whole Tone Scale thing.  I have several books, but haven’t read all the way through some of them.  I got stuck many times in classes and the teacher would point me to something else, and by the time I got through all that I usually wound up with even more questions.  Most of my teachers were much younger than myself, so maybe it is just hard to deal with someone with lots of “life experience (old age).”   If you have the time maybe you can read my conversation with the other person I wrote about.  http://www.allexperts.com/user.cgi?m=6&catID=1751&expID=77194&qID=4797632
If you do read it, I have more questions for you regarding his answers.  Maybe this has to do with the tone scale, but I don’t understand why someone would tout himself or herself off as an expert, and then run the subject down.  For example: “Auditing is a waste of time because it leads nowhere. That you feel it has helped you is nice but that is not a test of whether it is worthwhile.”  My question then becomes “what is worthwhile?”  I can say there were many things that I did in my life that were a waste of time, but I can’t think of one that was not worthwhile; because, if nothing else, it taught me “that was a waste of time,” thus becoming worthwhile.  I guess I have just one more question for him, just what then in life is worthwhile?  Student Auditing: Maybe that is not the real name for it, but Student Auditing is what I call it because they have meters and they need people to practice on, it was free so I volunteered a couple of times.  Now for the really important question for me, you mentioned that you have some “Extension Courses.”  For me that would be great because I live way outside of town, and it was a long drive to CC for me when I was taking classes.  Many thanks again, and I’m looking forward to your classes.  Larry

Answer
Yes, I understand. You were obviously just told to take certain courses but while the data is important for you to know, there is the matter of studying the data in the proper sequence. As an example if a guy wants to know more about how the mind works he is given the subject of Dianetics which deals with the mind. He is given some basic information maybe in video form first so he has an idea of what Dianetics does for the mind and so on. But what does happen all too often the guy comes in and wants more data on the mind and the person who is in-charge of selling new people courses etc... sells him Scientology which deals with the human spirit and how that spirit interacts with the physical universe and other spirits. Now he is "off to the races" going down a road he may not be interested in at that moment and does not get what he came there for, this can be difficult and can and has gone on for years. It is amazing when I come across someone who was "in" scientology for years and claim it did nothing for them and was a waste of time. A person can be very upset by this person saying that and not understand "why" they get someone being antagonistic towards the subject. That is covered in the area of "FAILED PURPOSES". I ask the person, "40 years ago when you first came into contact with Dianetics or Scientology what was you personal Goal you had for learning the subject?" They always go back to something like. "Hey I wanted to know how to audit Dianetics and the guy told me it would be better if I got the book Self Analysis (which is scientology auditing procedures) so I got the book but was never really interested. So they put me on another course, then another course but they never really let me take the Dianetics course and when I protested they accused me of being an anti-social personality and on and on!" This has actually happened to many people I have interviewed. What we do is put them on the proper "Life Repair" program that is tailored made for their particular situation. Then they really soar! The pressure on staff to "get stats up!" OFTEN GOES INTO UN-REASONABLE OFF-BEAT ADMINISTRATIVE HANDLINGS JUST TO GET THE GROSS INCOME UP! This introduces a "false purpose" into the organization and this aberration thunders through the org and becomes a real mess. LRH wrote many policy letters to handle this kind of situation but often the staff do not apply what he instructed them to do, much to their demise. The policy LRH wrote works if applied to the right situation. But it is only as good as the individual staff member applies it. You are right, life and living are very much worthwhile. That person was dead and wanted you to be in the same mud they got into. Well done on recognizing that. To understand the Tone Scale it is important to get a copy of it then get a hold of a series of lectures LRH did back in 1951 which the book Science of Survival is a part of. We have these lectures and can provide a way for you to get them. But we will have to go over that in a "private forum". I hope that helps you. Sincerely, Jay
