About Mick Wenlock
Expertise
I can answer questions dealing with a wide range of Scientology subjects. My main area of expertise is in the Management of the Church of Scientology. Along with that, the issues faced by people leaving the Church and the Sea Organization. I am no longer a member of the Church of Scientology. As I do not now possess a library of Hubbard's books, specific questions about auditing processes are not something I can give references for.

Experience
I was in the Sea Organization and Management of the Church for 13 years. I ran one of the Advanced Organizations.

Education/Credentials
I have two Associates degrees in Engineering and Computer Science

Scientology - Local Auditor

Expert: Mick Wenlock - 8/28/2009

Question
QUESTION: I wanted to get some auditing from a local auditor, although I couldn't really find one, and then I ran across this site.  There was a statement regarding "Freezone" and auditing.  I know I heard on some LRH tape where he talked about getting training and then hanging your shingle up in front of your new place of business.  That sounds to me like it's okay to go to an independent auditor rather than to spend a huge amount of money for the same thing.  So, what is the problem with going to a trained auditor who is working on his own, and not a Sea Org. member?  Thanks, Larry

ANSWER: Hi Larry,

As I am no longer a member of Scientology and think that the "auditing" is a colossal waste of time and money as well as being potentially harmful to anyone's state of mind any advice I would have would not help you very much.

There is nothing in the world to stop you getting auditing from whomever you wish. But if you do get auditing from someone the CofS disapproves of, then you will not be able to get services with the CofS in the future.

QUESTION: Well Mike, thanks for responding, but can't say that any questions were answered.  Why would you put yourself up as an expert in Scientology when you think auditing is bunk?  Auditing, as limited as it has been for me, has revealed many things to me (About 12 Hours).  I sure would never say it was a waste of my time.  I have been involved in many things that I can say were a waste of my time and tell you exactly WHY.  You could have at least said why you thought it was a waste of time.  Do you mean to tell me you got nothing out of it at all?  Why would you go as far as you did, if there was nothing to be gained?  How did you get to be first on the expert list?  To say that you are not a member doesn't mean much, because as far as I know there is no memberships per say, unless you are a member of the Sea Org.  Larry

ANSWER: Hi Larry,

Please read my background information that is provided with this site.

Yes, indeed there is an official membership of the Church of Scientology, I refer you to their web page.

Auditing is a waste of time because it leads nowhere. That you feel it has helped you is nice but that is not a test of whether it is worthwhile. I pursued the myth of Scientology achievement for a long time - it was a wasted effort on my behalf. That is also true for the vast majority of people who get into Scientology.

I did answer your question - I told you that you can get auditing from whomever you choose but if you choose to be audited by someone that the CofS does not approve of then you will not be able, in the future, to receive services from the CofS.

To be approved an auditor does not have to be a Sea Org Member, just in good standing with the CofS.

If I am number one on the expert list it is because, I guess, I just try to answer the question and I try to be open about where I am coming from in my answers.

QUESTION: Well Mick, I guess I only have one more really important question.  What then is WORTHWHILE in life?  If someone can point me in that direction, I would be greatly appreciative, without having to say, been there, done that.  Thanks, Larry

Answer
Hi Larry,

I am not an expert in what is worthwhile in Life. That is your decision, not mine. I am not a pretend guru like Hubbard, merely someone who spent a lot of time and effort and commitment in Scientology only to discover that it is a waste of time and effort.

Good luck to you on whatever you decide to do.

Mick
