Question hi there! i remember watching a film as a kid and need to know the title! the film must have been from the 70's/ very early 80's. the basic story is that of a man traveling through space in a ship which has a large bio dome or two attached to it which he tends to throughout the film. i say alone but there are two robot drones which are his only company (which seem to do some repairs and general maintenance) and he seems to build a friendship with them. this is essential to the plot seeing as i think towards the end there is some kind of explosion or a leak so that the man is forced to separate one of the bio dome buildings from the ship while one of the robots (quite box like) is left behind to tend to the plants or just to perish. quite a few tears were spilt seeing as this man was so lonely and had to leave one of his only friends behind. please help!
Answer It just so happens that I've been saving my money to buy the special edition DVD of this classic, one of my all time favorite moives of ANY genre. You are thinking of Silent Running. And it indeed is a tear-jerker, even some 12 years after the first time I saw it.
