I too am looking for this episode - it was set in the south and the girl was blonde and the doll was a black doll- the mom or aunt withholds the doll but the little girl gets it, then when the adult finds a child in the back yard she sends her off to her side of the tracks only to find the doll now a blonde doll - they had changed places, it was probable outer limits or twilight zone, 50's or 60s black and white - I would love to know what this was exactly

I too am looking for this episode, I think that it was titled Mr. Peppermill.  I remember the show starting off maybe with the uncle or grandfather giving a little white girl a black doll as a gift. THe white girls mother has a problem with the little girl always playing with imaginery friends.  In this episode I remember the little on her knees on the floor looking under the sofa for some imaginery friend that she calls Mr. Peppermill. At this point after telling her numerous time to stop pretending that she is talking to someone she is sent to her room as punishment.  I remember at the end of the episode that the white girl and her doll who has now come to life and are playing outside on a swing or something has traded places. The black doll is now the white gril and the white girl is the doll.  The mother send the black girl away not realizing that that is her daughter.  This was in the early sixties.  Maybe twilght zone or some or sci-fi or thriller.

My parents have been asking me about this same episode. My father thinks that it was call Numma, but this could also be the name of the little girl. He thinks it was a twilight zone episode, but again was not sure. I am searching for it as I write this, but have come up w/ nothing as of yet. Seeing how my parents were born in '56 i have to start in the mid 60's. After seeing how they continually talk about it i can't wait to see it.

I remember watching this movie when I was a young girl. The little girl was from a plantation and she had a little black doll. They would switch places. When they switched, the little black girl came to the door and was run off. Song I remember that played was called "Long Long Ago".

I am a professor of communication at a midwest university, with expertise in film. I can answer most questions on the original "Star Wars" trilogy, and some on the newer trilogy. I also have expertise in general science-fiction film (both history and theory), especially in the United States. For movie titles, I need to have the release date (or a date range, or at least when you saw it). It is better if you note significant, major plot details and characters rather than minor plot events, and it is even better if you can recall an actor or director's name, and if it is a film or TV movie. Plesse do not just provide a set of links to someplace else (e.g. imdb discussion threads). I am less able to answer the following, although I will do my best to track down an answer for you--recent SF films, horror films, or made-for-TV movies. Most SF films from other countries are out of my areas of expertise. In addition, I cannot answer questions about animated SF films, anime/manga, television series or shows, or about film collectables. Nor will I answer obvious homework (although I will point you to resources to help answer the question, if asked). I also can't help you find movie stars, movie memorabilia, or tell you how to break into the business.
