The name of the bow was ELB, not ebbie. I recently purchased this on Ebay. Shame they didnt finish it!

The film your after is almost definitely The Archer and the Sorceress (1983), starring Lane Caudell, Victor Campos, and Belinda Bauer, and directed by Nick Corea. It was originally intended to be a TV series, which is why it appears to end mid story. A conclusion was never filmed, but the movie is enjoyable enough, as long as you don't expect too much! It's not available on DVD, but it shouldn't be too hard to pick up a cheap VHS copy on line. Cheers!

The movie you describe is indeed, The Archer: Fugitive From the Empire. I watched this film when it was first run on NBC. The plot points you describe are in this film. NBC ran a series of teaser ads about a month prior to the first showing where they said they would be showing three films about the archer but numbers 2 and 3 never happened. I videotaped the film when it first ran and still have my copy.  It was a well done film and it is a shame there was no followup  - there were a lot of interesting plot points still to resolve.

I am also looking for this movie I saw when I was younger.  The gem on the bow made some kind of brand on his chest.  When he ran out of arrows a hawk feather would turn into more arrows. When he used the bow time would slow down ans everything turned red. One of his group had a bunch of throwing knives.  He kinda reminded me of Han Solo. I seem to remember it saying something like...bloody omen or something of that nature.

You are correct about The Archer:  Fugitive from the Empire and the name of the magical bow called heartbow that can shoot an arrow that will also effect an area and not a target.  This movie also has a raven whose feathers turned into arrows and a woman with a magical amulet that summoned animals.

I totally remember that show!

"The Archer: Fugitive from the empire" (1981)

It has the bow...

"Elbe" the Heart Bow is an awesome magical weapon. The best parts of the movie are whenever Toran uses it. Arrows shot from the Heart Bow explode on contact, but it's not just a regular explosion, it causes a cool negative effect with colored filters (okay, maybe it's not that cool). And, if your enemy gets too close to shoot at you can just hit them with the bow itself and they'll blow up then too. Not only that ("wait, there's more"), when you run out of arrows, a magical hawk comes along and drops a feather. When the feather touches the ground it transforms into a couple of dozen new arrows, so you never run out of ammo."

I also remember part of this movie. The magic bow, the arrows and the hawk or eagle. But I also seem to remember something about what resembled lizard men and a magic glove that could only be worn by someone who was purely evil. I would like to know as well what the name of it was

I am a professor of communication at a midwest university, with expertise in film. I can answer most questions on the original "Star Wars" trilogy, and some on the newer trilogy. I also have expertise in general science-fiction film (both history and theory), especially in the United States. For movie titles, I need to have the release date (or a date range, or at least when you saw it). It is better if you note significant, major plot details and characters rather than minor plot events, and it is even better if you can recall an actor or director's name, and if it is a film or TV movie. Plesse do not just provide a set of links to someplace else (e.g. imdb discussion threads). I am less able to answer the following, although I will do my best to track down an answer for you--recent SF films, horror films, or made-for-TV movies. Most SF films from other countries are out of my areas of expertise. In addition, I cannot answer questions about animated SF films, anime/manga, television series or shows, or about film collectables. Nor will I answer obvious homework (although I will point you to resources to help answer the question, if asked). I also can't help you find movie stars, movie memorabilia, or tell you how to break into the business.
