I'm sure this is the same film I'm looking for too.

I remember a group of people with the boy, trying to flee danger while skimming along a water planet with lots of flowers with explosive pods (possibly filled with a gas to make them lighter than air).

It's only at the very end of the film that you learn the young boy is actually the same old man, thanks to a metal plate that the young boy gets to save his life.

I'm glad someone else remembers it.

I thought I was going mad.

Apparently it was called Time Masters (a french/Hungarian film).

I definetly remember this film. It involved space and time travel. The paradox at the end is when you realise the old man was the young boy at the start of the film.. i've been desparate to find this film too !

I'm looking for this same cartoon and I remember about as much as them above me. I do remember two small robots in it though as well as the boy with the metal plate in his head and then you find out it is the old man telling  the story. Very sci-fi

At Last !!!

I also have been searching for this film since I rented it out from Ritz video years ago !! I remember the style of the film as being more Aeon Flux than Manga or anime, I also remember these really two weird characters who looked to be ( film wise ) normally a foot long and could change shape rather like Tony Hart's Morph I remember the swimming scene and also the scene depicting the boy / old man being attacked by what looked like giant mosquitos. I also remember the little Morph type character "showing" the rest of the crew the memories of the old man...which is when you discover that the old man and the boy are the same person !!! Please can someone help us discover what this film is called...fingers crossed :-)

Sorry I can't answer the question but I thought I'd mention that I remember seeing the same film and have been all over the internet trying to find out the name of it for over 2 years. Interestingly I only remember the bit you describe and nothing more. I wonder if this means it was not a film at all but perhaps and episode or short film.

Yes it's definitely the time masters/ the masters of time / Les Maitres du temps. I spent ages looking for it, still can't obtain a copy for love nor money.

Hello there. In response to your question, I too have been searching for this cartoon movie, but to no avail. However, I do have an idea on how to find it. I distinctly remember that one of the characters was voiced by Ray Brooks (Mr.Ben & Eastenders fame)

I am very good at voice recognition, so my idea is to contact Ray himself and he'll tell you what the movie was. Cheers!

I am a professor of communication at a midwest university, with expertise in film. I can answer most questions on the original "Star Wars" trilogy, and some on the newer trilogy. I also have expertise in general science-fiction film (both history and theory), especially in the United States. For movie titles, I need to have the release date (or a date range, or at least when you saw it). It is better if you note significant, major plot details and characters rather than minor plot events, and it is even better if you can recall an actor or director's name, and if it is a film or TV movie. Plesse do not just provide a set of links to someplace else (e.g. imdb discussion threads). I am less able to answer the following, although I will do my best to track down an answer for you--recent SF films, horror films, or made-for-TV movies. Most SF films from other countries are out of my areas of expertise. In addition, I cannot answer questions about animated SF films, anime/manga, television series or shows, or about film collectables. Nor will I answer obvious homework (although I will point you to resources to help answer the question, if asked). I also can't help you find movie stars, movie memorabilia, or tell you how to break into the business.
