I am also looking for this film. The plot is exactly as I remember it except I have seen two different endings. One had the white tiger in the flat but I can't remember the other.

The film also contained a creature which was a human spider hybrid thing that evolved from one of the characters.

Just need that title!

I've done some more digging and the film is called Xtro (1983). You can find copies on Amazon. Think I may buy one myself.

Hello.  This is probably coming way too late, but I was browsing through and saw your question.  I'm pretty sure the movie you're talking about is called Xtro, made in 1982.  It's a British film about a man who is abducted by aliens.  He returns to earth years later but has been changed and is no longer human.  He sneaks into this old farm house and impregnates a woman.  She gives birth that same night to a fully grown human.  Later the father returns home and eventually gives his son strange powers.  I remember something about the father is trying to get the young nanny (possibly to impregnate her too, I can't quite remember).  But there is also a scene with a midget dressed up as a clown (part of the boy's new powers are that he can apparently make things real just by imagining them).  I don't remember much else from the movie, although I do own it on DVD but haven't watched it in a long time.

Hope this helps... even if it is probably too late

I just saw this movie for the first time (well a good chunk of it anyway) on cable last year. The film in question is called Xtro and it was released in 1982. I was somewhat familiar with the sequels, but that was my first experience with the original.

Regarding the above answer, I'm afraid the film is called X-Tro and not extro, made in 1983 and directed by Harry Bromley Davenport.

Extro was indeed a horror film that was made sometime during the early nineteen eighties. I saw the movie, as I saw almost anything that came out during that time. What I distinctly remember was a woman producing alien "eggs" while suspended in a bathtub. I remember the last scene of the movie was when the father and his young son were boarding an alien spacecraft to go from whence it/they came. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but it was in my top [bottom?] five bad movies of all time.

XTRO was the name of the movie I think she was looking for.

I am a professor of communication at a midwest university, with expertise in film. I can answer most questions on the original "Star Wars" trilogy, and some on the newer trilogy. I also have expertise in general science-fiction film (both history and theory), especially in the United States. For movie titles, I need to have the release date (or a date range, or at least when you saw it). It is better if you note significant, major plot details and characters rather than minor plot events, and it is even better if you can recall an actor or director's name, and if it is a film or TV movie. Plesse do not just provide a set of links to someplace else (e.g. imdb discussion threads). I am less able to answer the following, although I will do my best to track down an answer for you--recent SF films, horror films, or made-for-TV movies. Most SF films from other countries are out of my areas of expertise. In addition, I cannot answer questions about animated SF films, anime/manga, television series or shows, or about film collectables. Nor will I answer obvious homework (although I will point you to resources to help answer the question, if asked). I also can't help you find movie stars, movie memorabilia, or tell you how to break into the business.
