About Robert Craig Expertise I can answer all questions on Scottish history, culture, geography, scenery; what`s worth seeing and why. My specialist area however is mountaineering/hiking. My weakest area is tourist related (i.e. restaurants & accomodation).
Experience
I'm a native Scot with the inside knowledge that entails. I have climbed all the mountains over 3000ft and made several long distance walks. I studied Scottish history at university (in my own time) and am a keen folk singer. Check out my Virtual Tour of Scotland at http://www.loveofscotland.com.

Aye. They say that the cosmetic moisturiser Avon Skin So Soft works well. Apparently the armed forces use it! I have never used it though and neither has anyone I know, so I cannot say for sure. I've used citronella-based spray in the past, but mainly I just stay indoors when the midges are worst (dusk), or just thole their bites if they are not too bad. Midges love calm still air, cool temperatures, drizzle, romantic sunsets. Midges hate wind, heavy rain, hot direct sunshine, heavy pipe smoke. They breed in bogs rather than machair, and are gone by September.
