Question
Mike,

We plan to dive some locations in the Greek waters and i am curious if you know if a diver flag (assume Alpha flag)is a legal requirement. If it is a legal requirement, do you know the required dimensions?
If it is not a requirement, i intend to make a reasonably visible one for safety - but don't want to get stuck with the law and a specific size.

Thanks
Charles

Answer
Hi Charles,

You are correct in the use of the Alpha flag for diving.  I'm not personally familiar with the legal requirements for display of that flag in Grecian waters.  However, you can follow the link below to find a list of dive shops and liveaboard boats which operate in Greece.  Contacting one of them by e-mail should provide the information you need.

If you have trouble with the link, try Googling "scuba diving in Greece".

Charles, I hope this will provide the information you seek.  While you're over there, I hope you discover a little history!!
