Scuba Diving/Risk Managment In Diving ?

Question
Hi Gustavo,

I'm about to achieve my PADI certificate in open waters
I'm really interested in continuing down that line (you know, explore new places, network with different people/cultures). I heard it a thrill !

I'm already teaching swimming and I'm 23 years old.
Used to play for my country national swimming team till the age of 18; I incorporate running 20km daily, bodybuilding and other various sports.

Just wondering...

What can you tell me about your experience as a scuba diving instructor/diver ? Is there any risk to my health in the long run/term ?

Very greatful

Regards,

Tarek

Answer
Hi Tarek,

Diving is a very safe and enjoyable recreational activity, perhaps even a family endeavor.

If you're interested in the long-term effects of diving, I'd recommend you visit Divers Alert Network's Medical Research web site at: http://www.diversalertnetwork.org/research/index.asp

It has a very comprehensive listing of current diving research and information for all medical questions.

Sincerely,

Gustavo E. Flores,
PADO Open Water Scuba Instructor
