Question My Mother pushed a panic button on my aunts ADEMCO system-it does not appear to be monitored and the toggle switch is set to off on the front of the box. My aunt has passed away and I have no info on the system. It goes off whenever I open the front door-the neighbors hate me-Help!
Answer Hello Patti, and thanks for writing. It sounds to me like the system is armed, and every time you open the door, it goes off -- as it should.
Without knowing the model number of the control, I can only give you general advice.
First, the panic button. It doesn't matter whether the control is on or off -- the panic button will work all the time. The button will have to be manually reset. There are many different buttons, and some need a key to reset them. So look around the house for a small brass key marked "2420" or "1394." These are, to the best of my memory, the reset keys.
As for the front door alarm, you'll need the code to turn the system off. If you cannot obtain it, you'll have to get a technician in to disable the system, or reprogram it with a code that you can use.
I hope this helps, and if you have a follow-up question, please include the model number of the control so I have a better idea how to help.
